Pollo Tropical

Hey guys,
Today I went to Pollo Tropical in Metuchen NJ. It is a Latin/Caribbean chicken restaurant. Pollo Tropical Is set up as a Caribbean cabana or hut. The Main items on the menu are the signature flame-grilled chicken, pork, ribs and a whole bunch of sides. You can create a family meal which consists of 8 pieces of chicken for $11.95, a choice of extra chicken or ribs for +$5, and any amount of a vast selection of sides for +$2.50 each. You can just have the 8 pieces of chicken. You order your food and then go to the sauce bar where you can choose any number of sauces like: ketchup, mayo-ketchup, salsa fuego, and much more. You can also get toppings like Jalapeños, onions and much more. They give you a table card and you choose a table and a waiter/waitress will come and deliver your food. My main recommendations are the chicken, the mashed potatoes, the curly fries(w/the mayo-ketchup),  and the guava cheesecake. There is also free wi-fi.

Food: I give the food a 8.5. The bread was a little too sweet. The other items however were excellent.

Decor: I give decor a 9 out of 10. It is set up as a Caribbean cabana/hut and has chicken-themed variations of famous paintings.  It is very clean and bright.

Service: I give service an 8 out of 10. You don't really get much interaction with the staff. You don't really need service in this setup. They take your order and bring the food to you table, they do this very quickly. They put up a sign above all the tables saying: "Oh, by the way, you don't have to leave a tip. We like to serve you".

Price: The price is very good. 4 people were filled for $30. The items vary from $2 to $15.

Overall: Overall I give Pollo Tropical a 9 out of 10. The food was amazing, the decor is vey good and the service is excellent.

So, I would recommend this place to anybody i meet who are looking for a good, exotic meal with lots of meat(there are barely any vegetarian items on the menu, but there are some very good, filling ones).

Amorino

Hey guys,
Today I went to Amorino in NYC. Amorino is on the corner of University Place and East 10th street in the Greenwich Village in New York City. Its a Gelato (Gelato is Italian ice cream which is softer and melts in your mouth with less fat but the same amount of taste if not more)  restaurant which has a cozy cottage decor. They have over 20 different flavors of gelato.First, you buy a size: Small cup, Small cone, Medium cup, Medium cone, Large cup, Large cone, Extra Large Cup, and XXL Cup. Next you choose what flavors you want and you can get as many flavors as you want; my favorite 3 are speccolus (speccolus tastes like a graham cracker, even if you don't like graham crackers you will LOVE speccolus), Brasil de Cafe (this is coffee flavored), and mango.

Food: I give the food an 9 out of 10. There are so many very good choices. Everything tastes so good. The Gelato is homemade with all natural ingredients you have an option of whipped cream (also homemade).

Service: I give service an 9 out of 10. When I went in, i was greeted with a smile. The man never got annoyed with all the different choices we made and the different questions we had.

Decor: I give decor a 9 out of 10. The place is very clean. It also has a Italian cozy cottage theme. It only has about 15 seats but it is very busy. People will just stand and eat.

Price: it is about $7 - $15 based on size. But its worth the money because of the food quality and you can have as many flavors as you like in your cup.

Overall: Overall I give Amorino an 9 out of 10. The food was really good. The service was welcoming. ant the decor was so pretty. I really look forward to going to Amorino again. I would recommend this to anyone. If you like ice cream, come to Amorino, you will hate ice cream after having this Gelato.
In conclusion, Amorino is an AMAZING place for anybody to go to while you are in New York City.

REMEMBER 9/11

I know this is a food blog, but we should all keep in our hearts the victims of 9/11 as we are in the 10th anniversary. It was 10 years ago at approximately 8:46 am and 9:03 am that the 2 twin towers were hit and then around 9:37 am the pentagon was hit. I was 2 1/2 years old when this happened. I vaguely remember seeing my mom turning on the TV to see the fire and smoke from the crash. My father was only a few blocks away from the twin towers, he saw them fall. We could not communicate with my father so my mother was very worried. my sister came home early from school. and was also very scared. Many people escaped but many didn't. Many businesses were shut down for the next week. a total of 19 hijackers took control of 4 planes, 2 planes crashed into the twin towers, 1 plane hit the pentagon, and the last plane was aimed at the white house but some brave passengers took the plane over from the hijackers and crash landed the plane in a field in PA. A total of 2,996 people died on 9/11. Apart from the twin towers the 3rd - 7th WTC building were partially destroyed. Merline Meyers, a 9/11 survivor was on the 91st floor of the 1st tower at the time of the crash and had narrowly escaped.

In our hearts always will be the twin towers

Now for some good news they are planning to rebuild the world trade center which will be opening in a few years.

Remembering always,

East Grand Buffet

Hey guys,
Today i went to East Grand Buffet in East Brunswick NJ. It is a chinese buffet with many interesting dishes. There are some dishes like Lo mein, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, but there are also other dishes like crawfish, and frog legs. It is a very simple set up: yellow walls and a big picture of Hong Kong, there are like little sections that hold about 15 tables and there are about 8 of those sections. There were 4 long buffet tables with about 10 - 20 dishes per table so thats about 60 dishes and 20 desserts, there was also a sushi bar.

You can choose from  many types of foods : seafood, beef, chicken, pork, frogs, vegetarian, and much more.

Food: i give the food an 6 out of 10. the food was pretty good good but some of the dishes are too much for me but you guys might like frog legs and things like that. sometime when you get to a dish when its running out it is cold and stale.

Service: you really cant judge the service because all the waiters do is seat you and when you ask them for a napkin or something they will get it for you but they just grab it from another table (not if someone is there) and some of the waiters and waitresses have attitudes. but also service could be how long it took to refill a dish when it got empty and they got filled very quickly so i give service a 6 out of 10

Decor: like i said before, it is a simple design, but sometimes simple is good. It is very well lit. Decor gets a 6 out of 10

Price: the price was about $17 - $20 per person.

Overall I give East Grand Buffet a 6 out of 10

25 Burgers

Hello I am the Picky Eater,
Today I visited 25 Burgers in Bound Brook NJ. You can find almost any type of “burger” there.  Though we think of a burger as a beef, turkey or veggie patty  in between two burger buns, here at 25 Burgers, you can find many things inside your bun, be it a classic cheeseburger, teriyaki chicken, specially marinated bison meat, pulled pork, pot roast, and much more. Though the place is called 25 burgers only 12 burgers are variations of the classic burger the other 13 are completely different burgers. Every month there is a specialty burger.
Apart from the 25 burgers, there are also 10 specialty hotdogs. Everything varies from $4 - $9. You may think that $9 is a lot for a burger but each burger is 4 – 5 inches in diameter. With tender certified Angus beef, tasty buns and many types of cheeses, you can customize your burger the way you want. They also have many different meats: beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, and even bison. And for all of you vegetarians out there, they also have veggie burgers.
Food: I give the food 7.5 out of 10. You get a big burger, tender meat, very good bread and remarkable sides; but the food is oily, but it’s a burger shop so the food is usually oily. Presentation was fair; half of the burger was wrapped, and put in a tray lined with paper.
Service:  I give the service 7.5 out of 10. You don’t really interact with the staff much, but when you do they are very nice. I was greeted with a smile. The wait for food is about 7 minutes.
Décor: I give décor 5 out of 10. It’s a typical burger joint with an attempt at a 50’s theme.
Price: The price for the food is reasonable. $4 – $9 per burger is actually good considering that its Angus beef and that the burgers are so big and filling.
Overall: Overall I give 25 Burgers 7 out of 10 the service was good and the food was great though the décor lacked a little. 25 Burgers is a great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner.
All in all, I would recommend 25 burgers to anyone who likes burgers or just loves meat, also 25 burgers is a great place to find good tasting burgers for a low price that are still filling.
